Drug name: Generic Valtrex (Valacyclovir)

Therapeutic effects:

Generic Valtrex (Valacyclovir) is an antiviral drug used to treat infections related to herpes virus. In the human organism valacyclovir is converted into acyclovir under the action of valacyclovor hydrolase.

Acyclovir exerts specific inhibitory effect against viruses: Herpes simplex type 1, 2,6, Varicella zoster and Herpes, Epstein-barr virus, Cytomegalovirus. Acyclovor inhibits synthesis of viral DNA after phosphorilation and conversion into its active form: Acyclovir triphosphate. Acyclovir triphosphate selectively inhibits viral DNA-polymerase. Being an analogue of viral DNA, it integrates in viral DNA causing rapture of DNA chain and following blocking of viral replication.

Indications:

Treatment of skin infections caused by Herpes simplex type 1 and 2
Herpes labialis treatment
