Generic Propecia (finasteride) is an antiandrogen, antineoplastic hormonal agent. It is indicated for the treatment of prostatic adenoma. Drug name: Generic Propecia (finasteride)
Therapeutic effects:
Generic Propecia inhibits 5-alpha reductase, which converts testosterone into a more active 5-alpha-dihydrotestosterone (DHT), and reduces its concentration in blood and tissues of the prostate within 24 h after oral administration. The drug inhibits the stimulatory effect of 5-alpha-dihydrotestosterone on the development of prostate adenoma. Suppression of DHT formation is accompanied by reduction of the prostate size, increase in maximum urine flow rate and decrease in the symptoms of urinary tract obstruction. Generic Propecia also decreases concentration of prostate specific antigen (PSA) in plasma.
